UP UP and Away!
We took Speedy to Bayview for the Wednesday Night Races. The crew was running a bit late, so Jojo and I sailed her down there by ourselves. It was actually very nice and we got into the groove of handling the boat by ourselves quite quickly. Read more…
Our Newest Crew
Introducing Jake! He is not only the newest crew member on the boat, but he is also the youngest and lightest. Makes him the perfect candidate to be our Snacktician and the one to get hoisted up the mast for whatever reason. Well, only if his mom and dad let him come back! We raced last night with a light crew (Dwight, Sheryl, Jake and I). Jake got his feet wet by trimming in the Genoa with Sheryl. We did alright. Better than we had the last couple of weeks….at the very least we went to the right marks!

Important Lesson Learned
Apparently Rush Creek marks are not the same as the Bayview/Chandler marks. Learned this one the hard way.
One of the newest members at Rush joined us last night for the race. David hopped on the an Olson for the first time and learned how uncomfortable the boat is real quick. One of the cup holders that broke during DRW cut a pretty good chunk out of his calf. Sorry Bro.
As I was saying, we were to race to the the Sunnyvale mark, then to heath and finish at RCYC. At B/C the Sunnyvale mark is the third buoy from the shore, but RCYC uses the fifth buoy. We rounded the mark last needless to say. But thanks to David’s skills we did not finish last. We ended up right in the middle of the fleet.
I now have in my possession, both sets of what marks are what. The RCYC and the B/C versions. We were too busy to take pics.
Full Moon Tri-Toon Flying Saucer Tie Up
ATTENTION PEOPLE! The Flying Saucer is officially open. Hell YA! Friday night we organized a cruise from RCYC to Flying Saucer and planned to cruise back in the moon light and spend the night on the boat. Mandy, JoJO, Dwight, I cruised to FS in no time and sat down for some cold Guiness. Had some snacks, and what do you know. The crew from Swale and Joint venture finally made it in. More drinking. 7.2 knots doesn’t sound that fast, BUT…

And this thing is about a 20% slower than GPS speed...If you ask me, we were going around 13 knots. Yeah, 13 sounds right.
And actually, the fastest I saw on the knot meter was 7.3…but we are just splitting hairs now! Wednesday night we were prepped to go race and kick some Swale ass! We got the boat in the water and it was all rigged and ready to go! There was a little concern over some harsh weather that was kinda heading our way. We risked it and headed out…Thankfully we got a tow out of the marina, since I could not manage to get the boat out by myself. There was a western wind, and the path is so narrow I coiuld barely pick up any speed and tack…. Read more…
3 Hour Cruise….lasted a bit longer!!!
The plan was to take some of Mandy’s old friends out for a cruise to see if they enjoyed the whole sailing thing. We all met at th club and proceeded to go sailing. It was Mandy, her old friends and their two boys, their cousins from out of town, and their two kidos…and me. We had 10 on the boat…I was not sure that many could fit. Read more…
