Our Fleet had three boats in it. It was SAD. Whatever. We took a 2nd. Got some cool glasses. Oh and I didn’t hit another boat…this was the first regatta in a while I was able to keep away from the other boats! Well, there were not that many boats TO hit. I was really looking forward to this regatta. It is the last one on the lake for a while.

SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! RACE DAY!
I was so excited! So we had a full boat. Spencer came on board for the first time, the man knows way more about racing a boat then he let on when we were emailing back and forth. At first we tried to put him up on foredeck, have Dwight fly the chute. Foredeck on the Olson is a bit harder than it sounds…it did not go well. Read more…

- Speedster and Flip, Flop, & Fly…Head to Head, racing down wind.
The first adventure with Speedster came as the Southwest Olson 30 Championship. I was very lucky to have a crew of experienced sailors helping me out that weekend. Brian had actually raced the boat with the previous owner, so he knew what to do…the rest of us pretty much ran around trying to figure out how the boat was rigged. Actually, I sat at the back of the boat and didn’t do SQUAT. I watched and had cold beers. That is what the boat owner is supposed to do, right?
Well, the winds were very light early on, but picked up in the afternoon. Luckily we did get 5 races in that weekend and we ended up on top of the podium. Since I did nothing but bring beer to the crew, all the credit for this race obviously belongs to the crew. Thanks Guys and Gals….
